Efficient IT / energy savings in everyday university life

...as a transformation measure in the area of energy

Results of the 1st transfer laboratory

The first transformation team at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has developed two new sharing offers under the name "Ressourcenkreisel" for the rental and transfer of items and devices. The lending platform is aimed at students and employees, and the sharing platform is aimed at employees only. In addition fact sheets on the topic of energy conservation at university ("Tips and tricks for saving energy at the university") were created and distributed as various print media at the university.

More information on the covered measures

  • Sub-measure "Cascading use of equipment" and measure "Equipment pool, reuse of equipment": For the implementation of this sub-measure, two online platforms are to be set up to simplify the organisation of the internal transfer or loan of equipment at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. On the one hand, a transfer platform is to be set up for university employees, in which devices that are no longer needed can be voluntarily entered and taken over by other university employees. On the other hand, a lending platform for borrowing equipment for both students and employees will expand the range of sustainable options for using equipment at the HSA. The aim of the measure is to establish the most sustainable use of existing equipment at the HSA, to avoid multiple purchases and thus GHG emissions associated with the entire life cycle of equipment (manufacturing processes, delivery, disposal, etc.). This sub-measure is based on the recommendations of the Inter-University Climate Council. The basis for this can be found in detail in the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences Climate Plan in the descriptions of the measures ‘Regenerative Campus 5’ under point 5 and ‘Sustainable Procurement 1 & 2’.
  • Sub-measure "Communicating sustainability goals - recommendations for action (tips & tricks) for saving energy in everyday university life": The sub-measure aims to communicate striking/interesting facts about energy consumption in everyday university life and potential savings to all university members in an understandable and user-friendly way. This is intended to encourage and motivate all university members to consciously contribute to recognising and implementing existing opportunities to save energy in their work and study environment. The aim is to comprehensively sensitise members of the university to ‘aha effects’ and tips & tricks on the subject and the associated reduction in energy consumption (electricity, heat) in order to ultimately achieve GHG emission reductions. This sub-measure is based on a recommendation of the Inter-University Climate Council. The basis for this can be found in detail in the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences Climate Plan in the description under ‘Sustainable procurement 9’.
